The Studio

Lesson Information

Through his in-home teaching studio,  N. Thomas Pedersen offers voice lessons and coachings in a variety of styles including musical theatre, classical voice, popular styles, and college audition preparation.

Lessons are available for pre-professional students from high school to adult ages for serious students with the dedication to pursue committed music study.

“If you can speak it, you can sing it."

Lessons with Mr. Pedersen help students find their own unique sound as they integrate speech-connected singing with acting objectives. Singers will study body alignment, respiration, phonation and articulation, ideally ‘cross-training’ in all techniques: classical voice, pop, contemporary and classic Broadway. Students can also expand their audition book with repertoire geared particularly toward young and advancing actors, including the ability to schedule coaching time in addition to lessons..

Student and Parent Testimonials

Here's what some of Mr. Pedersen’s students and their parents have to say about their experience working with him:

“I had the great fortune of working with Tom beginning my senior year of high school. In no time, he turned the ‘unknown’ of my voice in to a muscle that I have begun to understand almost completely. Tom’s ability to turn the complex concepts to clear, comprehensible singing action steps is unlike any teacher I  have worked with before. With a background as an actor, singer, conductor and a music director, Tom is able to teach voice and so much more. Tom helped me immensely through the college audition process, and continues to mentor me through my college journey. I feel his guidance is invaluable, his methods kind encouraging, and yet realistic and grounding. Beyond his work as my voice teacher he is a valued and beloved person and an admirable and great human being.”

~ Ian Rubin, 2023 Brandon Victor Dixon Award winner and University of Michigan Music Theatre Class of 2027

“Tom is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He guided me through so many years with my voice and helped me become the artist I wanted to be in college and beyond. I grew so much from his instruction with my range, acting, tone, and confidence. I still consult him when I need help with anything and he is always such a helpful and friendly voice in your corner. Once Tom’s student, always Tom’s student.”

~ Will Coffey, Rider University Music Theatre Class of 2026
